A North London Exit Route Opens for Marmoush

Omar Marmoush will spend the 2026/27 season on loan at Tottenham, with the north London club holding a mandatory option to make the move permanent next summer for £50 million, providing certain conditions are met.

The Egyptian international's departure from the Etihad has been brewing for a while. He had been exploring a potential exit following Enzo Maresca's arrival as manager earlier this summer, and a difficult 2025/26 campaign under Pep Guardiola left him short of consistent minutes and opportunities.

It means a fresh start under Roberto De Zerbi, where Marmoush hopes to establish himself as an undisputed starter.

Numbers From a Frustrating Spell

The 27-year-old joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025. In 18 months at the club, he scored 16 goals and provided six assists in 62 appearances across all competitions.

Those figures are respectable enough, but the arrival of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth in January pushed him further down the pecking order. The writing was on the wall.

Savinho's Exit and the Midfield Rebuild

Marmoush isn't the only forward heading out of the door. Savinho is set to complete an £85 million transfer to Tottenham in the coming days, with Palmeiras' 22-year-old Brazilian winger Allan Elias the preferred solution to replace him.

Back-up striker targets are yet to emerge publicly, but the club have work to do during the final eight days of the 2026 summer transfer window. The focus from within appears to be on bolstering the midfield ranks.

Widespread reporting across the weekend indicated City have finalised an agreement with Lille over the €100 million signing of 18-year-old defensive midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi. The Morocco international's transfer comprises an initial €95 million with a further €5 million in add-ons, and he is expected to travel to Manchester on Monday ahead of signing a five-year contract at the Etihad.
