Wing Hunt Hits a Snag
Manchester City's pursuit of Pedro Neto has taken a curious turn, with Chelsea reportedly slapping a £100m asking price on the Portuguese winger. The Daily Mail's claim that the London club want to nearly double the fee they paid Wolves for the 26-year-old a couple of years back has raised eyebrows across the Premier League.
It is a figure that feels steep for a player who has struggled for consistency since his move to Stamford Bridge. Yet Chelsea's stance is clear: if City want Neto, they will have to pay through the nose.
Three-Way Race Emerges
The race for Neto is no longer a two-horse affair. Al-Hilal have entered the fray, joining both City and Tottenham in the hunt for the winger's signature. The Saudi side's interest adds another layer of complication to an already tangled transfer saga.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed last week that City have made contact with Neto's agent, signalling genuine intent from the Blues. But that intent may count for little if the financial demands prove prohibitive.
Savinho's Exit Holds the Key
There is, however, a significant stumbling block before any approach for Neto can be formalised. City's move for a winger is entirely dependent on Savinho leaving the club first, with the Brazilian reportedly pushing for a move to Tottenham.
Despite weeks of negotiations, no agreement has been reached on the fee for Savinho. Until that situation resolves itself, City's hands remain tied in their pursuit of Neto.
The coming days will be telling. Whether Chelsea soften their stance or City look elsewhere, one thing is certain: this saga is far from over.
