Mfuni's Coventry loan saga takes another twist as Premier League interest emerges

Stephen Mfuni's proposed loan to Coventry City looked dead in the water earlier this week. Now, according to TalkSport's Tom Hancock, the move could be resurrected — or the 18-year-old might end up somewhere else entirely.

The Championship switch appeared to have collapsed, as first reported by Jack Johnson of TalkSport. But Hancock now suggests the deal could be back on, which would come as a relief to both City and the young defender.

Yet there's a fresh complication. Hancock reports that City have held talks with Sheffield United and Swansea over a loan to the Championship, but it now looks like Mfuni may instead join a Premier League club. Coventry, freshly promoted back to the top flight, are said to be keen to strengthen Frank Lampard's squad, and adding Mfuni would give them another defensive option in their fight to stay up.

Wherever he ends up, the hope is that Mfuni returns to Manchester City ready to take the next step in what promises to be a strong career.
