Manchester City are looking at Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi with a view to converting him into a right-back, according to reports.
The Athletic's Sam Lee has indicated that the 18-year-old is on the club's radar, though not necessarily in his current position. The French youngster has been described as a “very talented but also raw midfielder,” and City are weighing up whether his attributes could translate to right-back under incoming head coach Enzo Maresca.
It's a move that would fit a pattern. Maresca's system demands full-backs who can step into midfield, and Bouaddi's profile as a midfielder might suit that hybrid role. Whether he can make the adjustment is the open question.
No deal is imminent, but the interest is there.
