Grealish sets the record straight
Jack Grealish has taken to Instagram to correct ESPN UK after the broadcaster suggested he had been omitted from Manchester City's pre-season touring party as a selection decision. The 30-year-old, sidelined since January with an ongoing injury, is not in the squad heading to Asia — but not for the reasons some might assume.
The ESPN UK post read: 'Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips have been left out of Man City's pre-season squad travelling to Asia. They haven't played since January and February respectively.'
Grealish replied directly: 'Just to let you know I'm still recovering from an injury so I'm not training yet. Haven't been left out so stop talking poo poo thanks.'
The winger is into the final year of his current deal at the Etihad Stadium. City's first pre-season game is against Inter Milan on 1st August, while the Premier League season opens on 23 August against Bournemouth.
For now, Grealish's focus remains on getting fit. The rest can wait.
