Three goals down at the break, City were a different team after it. But the comeback fell short against PSG at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.
Marc Guehi, part of City's leadership group, picked out the positives from the defeat. The England international pointed to the second-half performance as evidence of what the side can do.
PSG had surged into a commanding lead by half-time. Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha all struck before the interval.
Enzo Maresca responded with a triple substitution. City mustered 21 shots in the second half alone. Erling Haaland scored twice, either side of a fourth from Maghnes Akliouche. Enzo Fernandez and Haaland both struck the frame of the goal.
Haaland's first goal took him past Sergio Agüero as City's all-time leading UEFA Champions League scorer. It also made him the quickest player in the history of the competition to reach 60 career goals.
It was City's first home game since an independent panel deemed the club guilty of breaching the Premier League's financial rules during 2009-18.
Ipswich Town visit the Etihad Stadium this weekend. A victory would send City six points clear at the top of the Premier League table, piling pressure on Arsenal, who travel to Nottingham Forest the following day.
European action returns to the Etihad next week, with AEK Athens the visitors.
