Spurs Working on Two-Forward Swoop

Tottenham's long pursuit of Savinho appears to be reaching its decisive stage, with reports now suggesting the north London club are preparing to make it a double raid on the Etihad.

David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that Spurs are working on a deal to bring both Savinho and Omar Marmoush to the capital in the final fortnight of the transfer window. Nothing is finalised between the clubs as yet, but talks are said to be advancing.

A Familiar Face in a New Light

Savinho's name has been doing the rounds at Spurs for over a year now. The London club first came calling during the same window last summer, only to see City reject an offer in the region of £70m. The Brazilian then committed his future to the Etihad, signing a contract extension until the summer of 2031, with Ferran Soriano determined to keep hold of him.

That piece of paper, however, may not tell the whole story.

The wider belief is that Savinho has remained open to a move away. After a difficult campaign under Pep Guardiola last season, the 22-year-old has set his sights on linking up with Roberto De Zerbi at Spurs, and is understood to have made City aware of his interest in moving south.

Now, with Marmoush also in the frame, City could be about to lose two forwards in one fell swoop.

"Tottenham are working on a deal to sign both Savinho and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City in the final fortnight of the transfer window."

Ornstein's report stops short of declaring the deals done, but the direction of travel is clear enough. For a club that usually does its business quietly and efficiently, this would represent a significant departure — and a considerable hole in the attacking ranks.
