Spanish giants ready to open negotiations
Real Madrid are preparing their first official approach for Rodri, aiming to bring the midfielder back to La Liga. The 30-year-old has entered the final year of his Manchester City contract, giving the Spanish side an opening to negotiate below the usual market rate for a player of his calibre.
Rodri has turned down City's latest renewal proposal and is keen on the move. According to Nicolò Schira on X, Madrid are ready to submit an opening offer worth between €50 million and €60 million. The player has reportedly agreed in principle to a contract running until June 2030.
Valuation gap remains
No bid has officially been accepted, and the two clubs are still apart in their valuations. Managing Madrid reports that City value Rodri at roughly €80 million, while Madrid currently do not want to exceed €60 million. Florentino Pérez holds a key advantage, though, with Rodri's current deal due to expire in 2027.
Progress has been made on personal terms, but the decisive stage will be reaching a fee agreement with City. Schira also claims Rodri rejected City's offer to extend his stay because he wants to join Madrid.
