Ndiaye Deal Edges Closer as Gakpo Interest Fades
City's transfer window is taking another twist, with a straight-cash deal for Everton's Iliman Ndiaye now looking increasingly likely. Reports suggest an agreement is in place for the Senegal forward, with no swap involved — despite some of the noise around a player exchange.
The move comes as the Blues' long-running interest in Liverpool's Cody Gakpo appears to have cooled. A deal for the Dutchman was thought to be close, but that now looks unlikely to materialise, particularly if Ndiaye arrives.
It seems there's no swap deal in place, with a straight fee being paid to Everton.
With the deadline looming, City are now expected to finalise two deals — one for Ndiaye and one for Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez. The midfield addition follows Allan's arrival in the last couple of days, suggesting the squad is being reshaped in more than one area.
Whether Gakpo still features remains uncertain. The door isn't shut, but it's hard to see both deals happening, and Ndiaye appears to be the priority.
