Path to first team still blocked
Max Alleyne looks likely to head out on loan again for the 2026-27 season, with Manchester City weighing up options in the Championship.
The centre-back spent the first half of last season at Watford, where he became a key figure in their defence. His performances earned him a recall in January, prompted by serious injuries to Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol. When called upon, he showed enough to suggest he could develop into a serious player for City.
But the competition at the Etihad remains fierce, and regular game time in the first team looks unlikely for now.
Pre-season involvement expected
According to Simon Bajkowski of the Manchester Evening News, Alleyne will report for pre-season training in two weeks and could feature in City's tour of Asia. The expectation, however, is that a loan move will be secured during the latter stages of the summer transfer window.
City are considering a number of Championship clubs keen to take the defender for the season.
Another successful loan spell could set Alleyne up for a genuine opportunity at City further down the line. Spending a season on the periphery of the first team would not aid his development. A move to a quality Championship side where he can play regularly feels like the logical next step.
