Enzo Maresca will take a closer look at Juma Bah during Manchester City's pre-season tour of Asia, with the defender's future still uncertain.

The centre-back joined City in January 2025 under Pep Guardiola and was immediately loaned back to Lens. He spent last season with Nice, who narrowly avoided relegation from Ligue 1 via a play-off win over Saint-Etienne.

Despite Nice's struggles, Bah caught the eye of several French clubs. Stade Brest are among those interested, believing his profile and experience fit their project, according to Jeunes Footeux via Sport Witness.

Decision time

Maresca, appointed as Guardiola's successor at the end of June on a deal until 2029, wants to assess Bah in person before deciding whether to keep him or send him out on loan again — likely to a French or English side.

City face Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid on their Asian tour before opening the Premier League season at home against Bournemouth. The tour will be key to Maresca's thinking on Bah.

City have already seen John Stones, Bernardo Silva and Nathan Ake leave on expiring contracts this summer. Elliot Anderson arrived from Nottingham Forest for £116 million in the headline deal of the window so far.

Interest has also been reported in Real Madrid's Federico Valverde, Lille's Ayyoub Bouaddi and Chelsea's Malo Gusto. The futures of Jack Grealish, Kalvin Phillips and Tijjani Reijnders remain uncertain, while Omar Marmoush and Mateo Kovacic are not expected to be at the club this time next season.
