Enzo Maresca has praised his midfield options after Manchester City's 2-3 win at RB Leipzig on Wednesday night.

Anderson and Fernández Impress

Elliot Anderson, Enzo Fernández and Rayan Cherki formed the midfield trio at the Red Bull Arena. Anderson, a £116 million summer signing from Nottingham Forest, set up Erling Haaland's winner. Fernández, the club-record £125 million arrival from Chelsea in September, headed City back in front after Ridle Baku's equaliser, connecting with Iliman Ndiaye's in-swinging cross.

Maresca told ManCity.com that Anderson can play as a No.6 or a No.8. "I'm very happy with his performance," he said.

At his post-match press conference, Maresca said of Fernández: "No doubt that he is going to score more goals." The Argentine international reached double figures for league goals in his final season in west London.

Defensive Rotation

Maresca noted he has been shuffling his defence just as frequently. "Sometimes Khusa was out, sometimes Marc Guehi, tonight Ruben was out," he said. "It's just four months."

City conceded two sloppy goals before Haaland's effort had the final say against Martin Demichelis' side.

The win comes as City look to bounce back from back-to-back league defeats and challenge Arsenal for the Premier League title. Upcoming Champions League opponents include Napoli, Barcelona, Lens and Sporting.

Maresca has faced recent criticism from some sections of the fanbase for not deploying Ayyoub Bouaddi more often.
