Enzo Maresca has dismissed any suggestion that Manchester City's past achievements have been tainted by the verdict in the club's financial case.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, ahead of Sunday's Premier League trip to Liverpool, Maresca was asked directly whether he now viewed City's previous trophies as tainted. His response was immediate and unequivocal.

"Absolutely not," he said.

Maresca's connection to City's recent success runs deep. He worked alongside Pep Guardiola during the 2022/23 season, when the club completed a historic Treble by winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League. He was part of Guardiola's staff throughout that campaign before leaving to take charge of Leicester City that summer.

City have appealed against the verdict and are awaiting the outcome of that process.

For Maresca, the question of tainted trophies is settled. His answer left little room for interpretation.
