The rumour mill is in overdrive with reports suggesting our midfield maestro, Kevin De Bruyne, could be considering a sensational move to Italian giants Napoli.Earlier this week, whispers emerged that KDB's representatives have reportedly held discussions with the Serie A club. But the speculation has intensified dramatically following a report from Belgian outlet HLN. They claim none other than De Bruyne's wife has been spotted in Napoli, allegedly house-hunting! Could this be more than just a holiday?

Adding fuel to the fire is the strong connection the De Bruyne family already has with the region. They famously tied the knot in the picturesque town of Sorrento, just a stone's throw down the coast from Naples.

And the Napoli links don't stop there! Our beloved KDB's close friend and Belgian national team teammate, Romelu Lukaku, is currently leading the line for Napoli as they chase another Scudetto. The pair share a long history, having starred together for Belgium and even briefly shared a flat during their time at Chelsea. Both are also part of the Roc Nation Sports agency, further strengthening their bond.

Napoli are reportedly hoping this strong friendship with Lukaku could be a key factor in persuading De Bruyne to swap the Etihad for the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Lukaku has certainly made an impact in Naples, currently their joint top scorer with 12 goals in all competitions this season.

Furthermore, another familiar face in the Napoli setup is former Belgian teammate Dries Mertens. The Napoli legend, who spent nine glorious years at the club and is set to become an honorary citizen next month, still maintains a residence on the coast with his partner Kat Kerkhofs. The couple were even guests at Kevin and Michele's wedding back in 2017! The Belgian connection in Naples is undeniable.

While De Bruyne himself has reiterated his desire to continue playing at the highest level, he has also acknowledged the need to consider his family's best interests. Speaking last month, he stated: "Honestly, I still think I can perform at this level like I'm showing but I understand that clubs have to make decisions. I'm open for anything (next) because I have to look at the whole picture. I'm looking at sporting reasons, family and everything together and what makes the most sense for me and my family. I still feel like I can play at a good level, but after I'll have to make a decision once I really know a little bit more."

It's also understood that the 33-year-old has attracted interest from the lucrative Saudi Pro League.

Despite battling injuries this season, De Bruyne has still been a vital cog in Pep Guardiola's machine, making 36 appearances in all competitions, bagging six goals and providing eight assists. His legendary status at City is cemented by an incredible trophy haul including six Premier League titles, the coveted Champions League, and five League Cups.

He could potentially add another piece of silverware to his illustrious City career, with the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace looming large on May 17th.
