Free agent defender attracts Serie A interest
John Stones has been out of contract for barely a month and Juventus are already making serious contacts to bring him to Turin. The 32-year-old left Manchester City in the summer after ten years at the club, during which he racked up 19 major trophies. He walked away as a free agent once his deal expired, a departure City had confirmed back in April.
According to Luca Bendoni of Sky Sports, the Italian side are actively exploring the conditions of a potential deal. They are not the only ones. Bendoni adds that Premier League clubs are also keen on the defender.
Juventus, however, are understood to be operating under significant financial constraints of their own this summer. That might make a free transfer especially appealing. Stones made 293 appearances for the Blues, winning six Premier League titles, one Champions League, three FA Cups and five Carabao Cups.
He was also selected for Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the World Cup this summer.
Whether a move to Serie A materialises remains to be seen. The Old Lady has work to do to make it happen.
