Transfer Window Chaos, Captured on Camera

Manchester City's final days of the summer transfer window were, by any measure, chaotic. New behind-the-scenes footage has emerged showing the sheer scale of the club's business, with four arrivals and two significant departures squeezed into a frantic stretch.

The documentary-style footage captures the signings of Ayyoub Bouaddi, Allan Elias, Iliman Ndiaye and Enzo Fernandez, while also documenting the exits of Omar Marmoush to Tottenham and Nico Gonzalez to Newcastle United. It is a snapshot of a squad being reshaped in real time.

The €100m Teenager and His Icons

At the heart of the activity is Ayyoub Bouaddi, the 18-year-old Morocco international who arrives from Lille for a fee of €100 million — €95 million upfront with €5 million in add-ons. He has signed a five-year contract that keeps him at the Etihad until 2031.

Bouaddi, who announced himself on the global stage at the FIFA World Cup in North America over the summer, was visibly taking in the scale of what was unfolding around him. When asked about his Premier League inspirations, he name-checked two former City greats.

"I really liked Kevin De Bruyne when he was in City and before him, Yaya Toure, he was really impressive. I think he was one icon of the midfielders."

The deal required CEO Ferran Soriano to fly to Lille for personal negotiations — a measure of how highly the club rates the teenager. Manager Enzo Maresca, greeting his new signing, delivered a warm welcome. "Today it's better than yesterday," he told Bouaddi. "Because you are here!"

Maresca also addressed the squad directly about the youngster, making it clear that no pressure should be heaped on his shoulders. "He is 18, and the most important thing, the message that we want to give you is that you don't need to prove to anyone here."

Record-Breaking Fernandez and a Snapchat Warning

If Bouaddi represents the future, Enzo Fernandez is very much the present. The 25-year-old Argentina international joined from Chelsea for a new British transfer record of £125 million, signing a five-year contract until June 2031. Director of football Hugo Viana was clearly pleased with the work, exclaiming: "Well done guys! Well done! Good job, good job!"

Fernandez, for his part, made a point of thanking Soriano for his handling of the transfer. "Thank you very much! Thank you for your efforts and for how you handled this transfer. The truth is, it's a pleasure for me to be here at a great club like this, and hopefully we'll win many titles together!"

The departures were just as notable. Omar Marmoush leaves for Tottenham after contributing 16 goals and six assists in 62 appearances in all competitions. His farewell came with a light-hearted warning from Erling Haaland, who told his departing teammate: "You'd better not ghost me on Snapchat." Nico Gonzalez, the 24-year-old Spaniard, also completed a permanent move to Newcastle United during the same window.

Between the record fees, the personal flights and the social media jokes, it was a window that encapsulated modern football's strange blend of high finance and human moments. City's midfield has a new look — and the cameras were there to capture every second of it.
