Erling Haaland and Harry Kane in the same forward line sounds like a fantasy straight out of a video game. But one European football expert has suggested it's not as far-fetched as it seems — if Haaland's Manchester City future ever changes.

A Bayern return on the cards?

talkSPORT's Andy Brassell believes Bayern Munich could revisit their interest in Haaland, pointing to the German champions' previous attempt to sign him.

"They were prepared, Bayern, to put it all in for Erling Haaland," Brassell said.

Haaland is tied to City until 2034 after signing his extraordinary long-term contract in January 2025. There is no suggestion the club are looking to sell him. But Brassell argued that if circumstances ever changed, Bayern and Real Madrid would be the two clubs worth watching.

Kane's evolving role

The presence of Kane at the Allianz Arena might appear an obstacle to any Haaland move. Brassell doesn't see it that way.

He suggested Kane's evolving game could eventually allow the England captain to operate deeper, leaving Haaland as Bayern's principal goalscorer. The arrangement, he added, could resemble the roles previously occupied by Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski in Munich.

"I don't think that is a mad idea at all, because we know that Haaland will always be a pure goal scorer," Brassell said.

Real Madrid lurking

Real Madrid have long been associated with the striker, and Brassell is adamant the Spanish giants would make room for him if he reached the market.

"If Haaland is on the open market, they will definitely be going in for him," he said.

For now, Haaland remains a City player, and the club have shown no inclination to change that. But in football, circumstances can shift quickly. And if they ever do, the queue for his signature will be long.
