Decision Day Nears for Grealish
Jack Grealish's time at Manchester City appears to be drawing to a close, with the attacking midfielder set to decide his future in the coming days. According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, both Everton and Aston Villa have been in contact over a potential move.
Writing on X, Romano stated: "EXCL: Jack Grealish to decide his future in the next days with Everton and Aston Villa in contact with his camp. Grealish keeps all options open ahead of the final decision; nothing concrete ongoing with Sunderland."
That last part is telling. Despite reports from The Athletic suggesting Sunderland's interest, Romano isn't convinced there's anything concrete there. The former England international, it seems, is more likely to return to one of his former clubs than head to the Stadium of Light.
Grealish joined City from Villa in 2021, and a romantic return to the Midlands would certainly lift the mood at a club that has lost key players this summer. Yet his loan spell at Everton last season appeared to reignite his enjoyment of the game, making Goodison Park an equally plausible destination.
At 31 next month, Grealish's peak years are behind him, but he could still offer plenty to a Premier League side. For City, his departure would mark the end of an era for a player who arrived with great fanfare and delivered moments of brilliance, even if his final seasons were less impactful.
Whatever happens, the next few days will be decisive. Everton and Villa wait, Sunderland watch from afar, and Grealish holds all the cards.
