Four Blues named in PFA Team of the Year as O'Reilly lands Young Player prize

PFA honours underline City's squad depth

The PFA Premier League Team of the Year was announced tonight, and Manchester City's fingerprints are all over it. Four Blues were named in the eleven, with the lineup dominated by players from City and Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta's side contributed five names, but the night belonged to a young City midfielder who walked away with a second piece of silverware.

Nico O'Reilly, rewarded for a fine 2025-26 season by being named in the Team of the Year, also claimed the PFA Young Player of the Year award. A good night for the academy graduate, to put it mildly.

He was joined in the eleven by Erling Haaland, Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo, all of whom saw their efforts across the campaign recognised. Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes and Brentford's Igor Thiago were the other names in the side.

Erling Haaland, Rayan Cherki, Antoine Semenyo and Nico O'Reilly are all in the upper echelon of players in the Premier League.

For a club that has spent the summer being told its squad needs work, the recognition is a useful reminder of what is already in place. Marc Guehi, Ruben Dias, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Jeremy Doku are among those still at the Etihad, and the quartet honoured tonight sit comfortably alongside them.

The squad, though, is not yet complete. Further additions are required before the transfer window closes, and the City hierarchy are expected to get to work in the final week of the summer window to bring in those reinforcements.

For now, though, the honours are a fitting reward for four players who delivered when it mattered last season.
