Another record for Haaland
Erling Haaland has done it again. The Manchester City striker is now officially the most expensive player in Fantasy Premier League history, priced at £15.5 million for the 2026-27 season. That beats his own previous record of £15 million from the 2024-25 campaign.
It also pushes Mohamed Salah's £14.5 million price from last term into third place all-time.
A familiar name near the top
Haaland has now appeared four times on FPL's list of nine most expensive players ever. He started both the 2023-24 and 2025-26 seasons at £14 million. The new price tag is a £1.5 million jump from last season's starting figure, which peaked at £15.1 million during the campaign.
You get what you pay for, though.
The Norwegian racked up 239 points last season — the highest in FPL. He scored 27 goals and added eight assists in 35 league appearances, earning his third Premier League Golden Boot. His first two came in 2022-23 (36 goals) and 2023-24 (27 goals).
He was the most-owned and most-captained player in any gameweek in the 2025-26 campaign.
Pick Haaland and you'll have £84.5 million left for the other 14 spots in your squad. That's tight, but he's been the top scorer after the first six gameweeks in all four of his City seasons, averaging nine goals in that stretch.
City's early fixtures help. They face Bournemouth at the Etihad on August 23, then take on newly-promoted Coventry City (Gameweek 3) and Ipswich Town (Gameweek 7). A home match against Sunderland in Gameweek 5 also carries a Fixture Difficulty Rating of just two.
Haaland also scored seven goals at the 2026 World Cup. Summer form tends to carry over.
