Maresca’s message to Anderson
Enzo Maresca has delivered a clear message to Elliot Anderson after the midfielder became Manchester City’s most expensive signing. The 20-year-old joined from Nottingham Forest earlier this month for £116 million, briefly setting a new British transfer record. Maresca spoke to Anderson alongside his family and representatives.
“You have my number; anything, anything, you can ask,” the City manager told him.
Maresca then instructed Anderson to switch off before the season begins. “Now, enjoy your holiday, rest that is the most important thing. Then we start every three days, three days, three days. So enjoy this moment. See you soon!”
Pre-season in sight
City’s first pre-season friendly is against Inter Milan on 1st August. The 2026-27 Premier League campaign starts on 23rd August. Anderson will join a squad that won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup last season under Maresca.
Meanwhile, Josko Gvardiol has signed a new contract keeping him at the club until 2031.
