Reports from The Athletic suggest a significant potential departure from Manchester City this summer, with the future of goalkeeper Ederson reportedly in serious doubt.

According to a report by Manchester City correspondent Sam Lee, while the futures of other players such as John Stones and Jack Grealish are uncertain, there is a strong indication that Ederson will leave the club following Kevin De Bruyne's exit.

This development aligns with previous reports indicating Ederson's interest in a move to Saudi Arabia last summer, specifically to Al-Nassr. However, a transfer did not materialize as no club met Manchester City's £50 million valuation.

Al-Ittihad are now reportedly keen on securing the Brazilian goalkeeper's services ahead of the new season. It is suggested that a successful bid meeting Manchester City's requirements could see the transfer proceed.

Ederson has established himself as a key player and a popular figure at the Etihad Stadium since his £35 million transfer from Benfica. Replacing a goalkeeper of his caliber will present a considerable challenge for manager Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City's primary target to succeed Ederson appears to be Porto's Diogo Costa. Reports from late April indicated that Costa has expressed an initial willingness to move to the Premier League and join Manchester City. His agent, Jorge Mendes, was reportedly exploring options to secure a transfer fee below the player's release clause, with Manchester City hoping to sign him for approximately £34 million (€40 million).

While it is unclear if Manchester City have alternative goalkeeping targets, Costa is currently considered the leading candidate. His familiarity to Hugo Viana, who has connections within Portuguese football, could be a factor in this pursuit.
