Gianluigi Donnarumma is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League. That's the verdict of former Nottingham Forest and Wales star Mark Crossley, who says the Italian's shot-stopping puts him top of the pile.

A bargain at £26m

Donnarumma arrived from Paris Saint-Germain last year for just £26m. The 27-year-old has been a revelation since, and Crossley believes his ability to keep the ball out of the net sets him apart.

Opta's data backs up the claim. After five games, Donnarumma ranks second in the top flight for goals prevented, with 2.6 fewer conceded than his expected goals against. Only Newcastle's Lukas Hornicek has fared better.

Raya's Golden Glove not enough

Arsenal's David Raya, a Golden Glove winner, has conceded just 0.1 fewer than his xG faced. Solid, but not in Donnarumma's league.

Donnarumma's reputation as a big-game player was forged at PSG, where he was a nemesis for Liverpool in the Champions League. Now at City, he's proving that his £26m fee was money well spent.

Enzo Maresca's side have a gem between the sticks.
