Blues remain in the market for Gusto
City have been back in touch with Chelsea over Malo Gusto, with Enzo Maresca still keen to add to his squad before the window shuts. Transfer journalist Graeme Bailey reports the Blues have made another approach for the France international, who has been on their radar all summer.
It is not the first time the two clubs have crossed paths over the 23-year-old. Earlier in the window, ReadManCity reported that City were unwilling to meet Chelsea's £75m asking price, leaving the sides some way apart. That gap appears to have narrowed, or at least the conversation has reopened.
Bailey also suggests City have not given up on Enzo Fernández, even though Chelsea insisted last week they would not let the midfielder go after their deadline for a £120m deal passed. Whether that is posturing or a genuine opening remains unclear, but City's interest is apparently still alive.
Meanwhile, the situation around Pedro Neto has moved quickly. The Portugal winger remains on City's list, but Al-Hilal are now in direct talks over a move, with reports over the weekend claiming Neto has already agreed personal terms with the Saudi club. Chelsea would still need to agree a fee before any deal goes through.
For now, City's pursuit of Gusto looks the most likely to yield something concrete. The right-back has long been admired at the Etihad, and Maresca's desire for reinforcements in that area is no secret. Whether Chelsea soften their stance remains to be seen, but the fact City have gone back in suggests they believe a deal is possible.
