Manchester City and Brighton meet again this weekend, this time in the Premier League, just days after their Carabao Cup encounter.
That cup tie saw City overturn a deficit and eventually progress via a penalty shootout. Now the focus shifts to league matters, with both clubs looking to respond after defeats last weekend.
City fell to Aston Villa in their most recent Premier League outing, while Brighton lost to Liverpool. The Seagulls are also contending with a lengthy injury list as they prepare for the trip to the Etihad.
Brighton's injury concerns
Kaoru Mitoma remains unavailable. Manager Fabian Hurzeler confirmed this week that the winger requires patience and is not expected back before the international break, though he should return afterwards.
There is better news on Stefanos Tzimas, who is back in training following his ACL rupture but is still around a month away from full fitness. Azeez will be handled with caution and is not due back for a few weeks.
Femi's situation is less clear. Hurzeler said:
"With Femi, again we have to be patient with him. It's not quite clear how long it will take. It seems to be not a big issue, but therefore we have to be patient..."
Yohanna has returned to training but will not feature until after the break. Ferguson is nearing the end of his long absence with an ankle problem and is a few weeks away from returning.
Defender Pascal Struijk is definitely out of the weekend fixture with a hamstring complaint. Hurzeler confirmed:
"Regarding Pascal Struijk, he won't be an option for the weekend. We are convinced he will be back afterwards."
Kadiogul is set to return from a groin issue, and Chema is in the same position.
City's absentee list
For City, Antoine Semenyo is sidelined until some point in December. Enzo Maresca recently provided an update:
"In the first moment, we expected a worst injury. After yesterday's scan, we will feel better. It will be eight weeks, so when he is back in December, it will be like a new player. Not muscular. To lose Antoine, or any player, is not good."
Matheus Nunes was hoped to return last week, but Maresca struck a cautious note at the time:
"Yeah, we have a session this afternoon. They can be all of them available or not. In terms of still doubt, yesterday, they were all improving, and we see this afternoon."
Nunes did not feature and remains a doubt for this fixture.
