Manchester City travel to Old Trafford today for the 199th Manchester derby, with Enzo Maresca's side in form but still juggling a couple of fitness concerns.
Maresca confirmed on Friday that Nico O'Reilly is available after a minor back injury sustained in the warm-up before last Saturday's win over Coventry City. Jeremy Doku, however, will not feature. The Belgian winger has been out since the FA Community Shield defeat to Arsenal with a calf problem, and this game has come too soon for him.
Doku may return for the Carabao Cup tie against Norwich City or the Premier League visit of Sunderland to the Etihad Stadium next Sunday. Beyond those two, City have a clean bill of health.
On the pitch, City arrive on the back of four consecutive wins in all competitions. The most recent, a 2-0 victory at FC Porto, was arguably their most impressive performance of the young 2026-27 season. United, by contrast, have been patchy under Michael Carrick.
Maresca's team selection poses a few questions. Elliot Anderson is expected to return to the starting lineup. The main call is whether Maresca opts for Anderson, Ayyoub Bouaddi and Enzo Fernandez in midfield, which would mean leaving out Rayan Cherki. Cherki remains a tempting option given his knack for creating something from nothing.
At right-back, Abdukodir Khusanov could come in for Matheus Nunes. Khusanov's recovery pace might be needed from the start given United's counter-attacking threat.
