Hugo Viana has made signing the Moroccan teenager his top priority this week.
Manchester City are pushing to wrap up a deal for Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, with two separate reports suggesting talks have moved forward significantly. The 18-year-old Moroccan international has already agreed personal terms, and a contract until June 2031 is on the table if the switch goes through.
According to Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between the clubs have accelerated this week. City are confident of completing the signing in the coming days. Sacha Tavolieri adds that the Blues have made substantial progress in their discussions with Lille.
There is still a gap in valuation. Lille want €100 million for their young star. City are hopeful of settling on a fee around €90 million plus add-ons.
Whether Bouaddi stays at the Etihad or goes straight back on loan to Lille depends on one thing: Rodri.
Rodri continues to be heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. Romano reports that the plan for Bouaddi — joining Enzo Maresca’s squad this season or spending 2026-27 back at Lille — hinges on what happens with the Spanish midfielder and any other outgoings.
For now, Hugo Viana has made this his number one task. A deal at €90 million plus extras would be a statement of intent from the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders, even before a ball is kicked in the new campaign.
