After a flurry of early summer activity, City's priority for the transfer window is now finding a successor to Kyle Walker at right back.

City have already moved for Rayan Aït-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Marcus Bettinelli and Tijjani Reijnders. No further additions are expected in midfield or attack. But Pep’s defence still lacks depth on the right side.

Tino Livramento is the name that keeps surfacing. The Newcastle full-back has been high on City’s list for weeks, though prising him away from St James’ Park won’t be easy. Newcastle don’t want to sell and haven’t invited bids.

That may not deter City. A report from Givemesport claims the club are preparing a move and believe Livramento is open to it. According to the publication, City sense the player is intrigued by the idea of working under Guardiola. Whether that’s enough to force Newcastle’s hand remains to be seen.

Newcastle’s stance hasn’t shifted. They consider Livramento a key part of their squad and are unwilling to negotiate. It would likely take a substantial offer to even begin talks.

City, though, have made a habit of getting their targets. If Livramento signals any willingness to leave, the mood may change. He’s just finished his campaign with England at the Under-21 Euros — clarity over his intentions may follow.

For now, the door isn’t wide open, but it’s no longer shut.
